The global learning directory.
Find the school, learning community, church, or learning website, claim the profile, attach the domain, and route the organization into the right LOTD lane.
The learning phone book starts with named classes, visible sources, and claimable records.
This directory is LOTD's public routing layer for lifelong learning. Learners can look for an institution. Institutions can claim a profile, attach a domain, and route themselves into the school lane, district lane, or partner path without pretending the whole planet is already fully indexed.
LOTD authoritative roster attachment (2026-03-17.v1) with 69 records across 16 learning-group classes. Public sources expand coverage across schools, churches, community learning centers, and learning websites. Verified claims move institutions and communities into the LOTD merge layer.Every learning entity class already has a lane.
The directory is operational because each entity class maps to a school, district, or partner route before the global import is complete.

Read-only source waves stay visible.
Coverage grows in waves. The first wave is registry-first. Later waves follow pilot leverage, localization depth, and public-interest partnerships.
Wave 1 - Structured registry countries
Strong registry structure, clearer licensing, and immediate public-source seeding value.
Wave 2 - Language and pilot leverage
High learner volumes, multilingual value, and strong partnership leverage after the first registry wave proves the mechanics.
Wave 3 - Public-interest scale markets
Scale the directory where public-interest distribution, civic partners, and multilingual routing can compound once the first waves are stable.
Roster sources and merge policy
One internal authoritative source makes named entities durable. Public registries and enrichment sources extend coverage without replacing that internal merge layer.
| Source | Authority | Status | Coverage | Next step |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LOTD internal roster feed internal |
authoritative merge layer | live attached roster | Attached first-party roster spanning every supported entity class and lane. | Extend this attachment with CSV, Airtable, CRM, or API imports without changing the merge contract. |
| LOTD directory candidate queue internal queue |
review queue | live upstream feed | Deduped queue of operator-submitted candidate schools, communities, congregations, and learning websites waiting for authoritative merge. | Attach external CRM or Airtable exports into the same sync contract once upstream systems are ready. |
| LOTD public seed curation internal-public |
seed exemplars | live seed wave | Cross-category sample institutions and operators | Expand or replace with authoritative country and sector registries. |
| Research Organization Registry (ROR) public registry |
high confidence | live query | Universities, colleges, and research institutes | Use for read-only discovery and later import into the local graph. |
| NCES Common Core of Data public registry |
high confidence | planned seed wave | US K-12 schools, districts, and LEAs | Use for the first US school and district ingest wave. |
| Get Information About Schools (England) public registry |
high confidence | planned seed wave | State and independent school records in England | Use in the first structured UK ingest wave. |
| Norway National registries (NXR and school register) public registry |
high confidence | planned seed wave | Norway institutions and structured provider lists | Use in the wave-one registry import sequence. |
| Czech school registry public registry |
high confidence | planned seed wave | National education providers and facilities | Use in the wave-one national registry import sequence. |
| UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) aggregate public data |
system context | context only | Aggregate system data, not institution-level records | Use to prioritize country waves, not to list institutions directly. |
| Wikidata public knowledge graph |
enrichment | planned enrichment | Global but uneven | Use only as an enrichment layer, not as the primary authority. |
| OpenStreetMap public map data |
location enrichment | planned enrichment | Global but uneven | Use for location cues and dedupe support after authority sources land. |
Search institutions, then route or claim them.
The local LOTD graph holds claimable records and seeded exemplars. Higher-ed searches also extend into ROR live results so the directory can answer real queries before the full global import lands.

Claiming starts the institution profile, attaches the official domain, and routes the organization into the correct LOTD lane.
Name the next roster candidate.
If a learner cannot find an institution yet, the missing request becomes the next entity candidate in the LOTD graph.
Top entity classes in the local graph
The first public layer stays honest: local graph counts are visible, claims are visible, and missing requests show the next ingestion demand.
